ChessX now has chess960 support. I haven’t tested it extensively, but it looks good (Edit -> Setup Position -> Chess960). ChessX is my preferred chess database program, it’s a bit like scid (Scid vs PC / ChessDB) but simplified, nicer looking (uses Qt5), and supports 960 🙂
The new version does X-FEN too (when it’s necessary, although it’s rarely needed). Very nice!

How do you play against the AI? It’s confusing
I’m not sure, I always had trouble working out the training component of ChessX, it’s definitely not very intuitive!
